To The Honourable Chief Minister,

The Government of West Bengal.

Respected Madam,

I, Chandra Sekhar Kundu, a citizen of Asansol, West Bengal, want to inform you that every day 400 people are killed in road accidents in India. A majority of them die due to rash driving, not wearing helmets or not using seat belts, among other reasons.

But in several movies, we have watched heroes and heroines ride their bikes at high speed without wearing helmets, and drive cars without using seat belts.

Madam, these acts encourage people to ride bikes without wearing helmets and also drive cars without using seat belts, thus increasing the risk of accidents.

Recently, I watched a Bengali movie titled One. In this movie, a police officer portrayed by actor Yash Dasgupta, always drives bikes without wearing helmets. Such scenes give a wrong message to society.

Life is certainly a bigger priority than entertainment. We know that our government took a great step with the Safe Drive Save Life campaign. So, Madam, I appeal to you to frame a strict law to censor such scenes in movies, or at least display a warning message, similar to the warning about tobacco consumption.

Yours sincerely
Chandra Sekhar Kundu
